Cori is the foundation bitch for Akitas CAS, and we know how fortunate we were to have her in our life! She was a great show dog AND a great producer - having earned her ROM title (see photos of her babies below), and having PRODUCED ROM producing babies! We couldn't have asked for more - and we are so grateful for her, and thankful for the influence Cori continues to exert on our breeding program!

originally from Shirley Burley of Shibusa Akitas for her excellent pedigree,
Cori was a phenomenal show dog as well as a phenomenal producer. From
taking Best of Breed at her first match under the esteemed Robert Campbell
(Sachmo's breeder), to finishing her championship with two 4-point, and one
5-point major!! Cori was then specialed only twice - the first time
winning Best of Breed at the Tampa Bay Akita Specialty, followed by winning Best
of Opposite Sex over 57 bitches at the Atlanta Regional Akita Specialty!!
What a show career!
Cori is a triple Kinta granddaughter whose dam - a multiple group placing bitch
herself - was Congo's half sister out of CH. Kristal's Candy Panda, the double
Sachmo granddaughter who is sister to the ROM foundation bitch "Krissy"
owned by Marcie Sanz of Kamikazi Akitas and bred by Kris Johnson of Kristal
Akitas. These bloodlines can be found behind many top winning dogs
today and behind most of my dogs.
Cori was bred three times, to produce a total of 15 pups. Seven of those are finished champions, and one other "Cleo" (Cori X Smokey) died with 13 points and one major, because a handler's assistant left her gate unlatched and she got out and was hit by a car. Champagne (Cori X Kid) was never finished because a handler LOST her at a dog show in the Adirondack mountains and never bothered to call us and let us know until two weeks after he had lost her. Her story had a positive ending though, as many people to who we will always be grateful, kept up the search for her. She was found alive and well after surviving on her own over the winter months in the New York mountains, and returned home to us. Many, many thanks to Nancy Marinchak for her help getting Champagne home!!!
Cori's babies inherited both her type and her personality - as many of them today will run to find their favorite toy when someone comes to visit, and will have it hanging from their mouth as they greet them. Cori was famous for her love of her King Kong - and could bark open mouthed without dropping it while it hung from the side of her mouth.
