At Akitas CAS, a small Akita kennel near Atlanta, Georgia, we are striving to produce only Akitas that would be a joy to own and a valuable asset to any family.  We fell in love with the breed in 1975 - and have NO interest in producing anything less than what we first fell in love with: a regal, intelligent, and kind dog - majestic to look at, loyal beyond question to his family members, and intelligent enough to instinctively know the difference between a threat and a non-threat.  A thinking dog with power!

"Zanadou" as seen on the cover of
Akita World and JPTeez shirts.

We strongly believe that any Akita that would consider a child to be a threat does NOT HAVE a proper Akita temperament and should never be bred.  We also know that a proper Akita would never back down from a threat, and for this reason he is NOT a dog for every family.  While proper temperaments are always our first consideration, we also strive to produce only Akitas of magnificent structure and bearing - a dog that will inspire awe.  We have no interest in producing anything mediocre.

We have owned Akitas as part of our family consistently since 1975, but we did not start competing in AKC conformation competition with our Akitas until the early '90s.  Since then our dogs have won such coveted titles as: BEST IN SHOW - SPECIALTY BEST IN SHOW - BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES - and include multiple Group winning and Group Placing Akitas.  We have produced over  70 AKC champions, international champions and many dogs that have placed in national and regional Akita specialty competitions.  We were the 2007 Breeder of the Year with eight CAS Akitas finishing their AKC champion titles, (plus an international championship and a Canadian Championship).  We were the proud breeder of the 2008 Top Producing Dam (from only one litter): CH. CAS Love Never Fails ROMP "Cizzle",  AND the 2008 Top Producing Sire (from only two litters): BISS CH. CAS Dozak I Got IT AOM  ROM "Catcher" - who was also a  2008 and 2009 Top Five Ranked Akita! - proudly owned and handled by Ronnie and Chris Ann Moore of Shinto Akitas.   In 2012, one of Cizzle and Catcher's daughters: CH. Shinto's Funny Girl of CAS ROM received her ROM title from just ONE litter to our Cobo - just like her dam Cizzle.  And another sister "Naughtie" received her ROM, with nine of her ten babies finishing their championship!  We are proud of producing consistent quality with many littermates finishing their AKC championship title, and coveted ROM titles.  One of Catcher's sons BISS Grand CH. CAS Cobo Haul Eudora "Cobo",  beautifully shown by Chris Ann Moore - is a  multiple Group One winner and multiple Akita Specialty winner, was ranked #2 USA Akita in the Breed and All-Breed rings for 2010 and 2011.   Cobo's brother CH. Aslan was ranked a Top Ten Akita USA in 2012 - owned and shown by the Moores of Shinto Akitas.  In 2015 our Zanadou son (and Cobo grandson) "King" Am/Mex CH. Skyking Pilot In Command was the #1 Akita in Mexico AND Award of Merit at the Akita National Specialty.  Co-owned and shown by Alberto Gonzalez of Gonvar Akitas.  We have slowed down our program in the past few years to have more time to play with our wonderful grandchildren, but will always have and love the only breed we have ever owned.  Check our breeding page for upcoming litter announcements.

A huge thank you to everyone that owns or co-owns our dogs for all the hard work you do and the LOVE and faith you give to the dogs!!!

Though written in 2006 and a little out of date, you can read more about the story of our dogs in an article written for The Dog Place.org:  OUR BREEDING PROGRAM

If you are interested in adding a dog to your life AND if you are willing to answer questions concerning your commitment, our email address is  akitascas@gmail.com
If you are considering adding an Akita to your home, please consider adopting.  Too many Akitas are dying in shelters because they were bred or owned by irresponsible people.  It's a tragedy that the dogs have to pay the ultimate price - so PLEASE consider adopting.  The rescue contacts in the Southeast USA are Dorie Sparkman of Akita Rescue Society of Florida, and Dr. Rachel Peeples, D.V.M. of Heart of Dixie Rescue.

We want to thank the many special people who have shared their lives with our beloved dogs - companions OR show quality, who mean so much to us.  Getting here was hard work - but the cards that you send telling us how much the dog means to your family, and the photos we get from you make it all worth it.
